Piercing session fee

Our piercing session includes a piercing fee of £30. No matter where in your ear you are getting pierced the price is the same. You can get a maximum of four piercings per session. The piercer will evaluate how many piercings are safe to do at once depending on the placements. The jewellery is NOT included in the piercing fee.

Follow-up appointments

We usually recommend booking a follow up appointment one month after the piercing has been done. Why? We want to make your piercing journey as pleasant as possible and make sure that everything runs smoothly also after you've left our studios. You are always welcome to book follow-ups for any reason. The follow-up is free of charge, however, should you wish to up or downsize your back piece, a fee of £44 will be applied.

Get re-pierced with your old Maria Black piercing jewellery

We only use the front piece and replace the back piece, as the back pieces are fitted to your new piercing specifically. A new back piece will cost you £40 plus the piercing fee of £30. Total of £70. Learn more about the service here. 

What jewellery is used for piercing?

Our piercing jewellery is crafted from 14K yellow or white IMPACT Gold made specifically for the purpose of piercing ears. 

What does the piercing jewellery consist of?

Our piercing jewellery consists of two elements; an internally threaded post (the back piece) and a threaded end (the front piece with the jewellery). These are suitable for most ear, daith or septum piercings. We also pierce with hinged infinity hoops which are only suitable for earlobe piercings.

Can I get pierced with a huggie?

Unfortunately, we are unable to pierce with huggies as they make it difficult for the ear to heal properly. However, huggies are a perfect fit for a healed piercing.

Can I get pierced with any silver jewellery from Maria Black?

We only pierce with jewellery from our piercing collection crafted in solid 14K IMPACT Gold. We do not pierce with sterling silver as it is unsuitable to pierce with.



Why don’t you pierce with silver jewellery?

The silver metal is too soft to pierce with. It can easily get scratched which can cause a bacterial infection.
There is a risk of silver oxidizing which can cause discoloration to the skin. When your piercing is fully healed you can change it into any silver jewellery you like. Discover our earrings here.

Can I get pierced with other jewellery than Maria Black piercing jewellery?

We only pierce with jewellery from our piercing collection created specifically for this purpose. The collection has been carefully created in collaboration with professional piercers and conforms to recommended international guidelines concerning the design, safety and quality.

Can I get pierced with an Infinity Hinged Hoop in the cartilage?

Our Infinity hinged hoop is only suitable for lobe, daith or septum piercings and we do not recommend using this style to pierce the cartilage area. The healing period can be extended as the hoop easily turns around in the newly pierced hole which can irritate the tissue. Therefore we recommend to start with one of our other pieces and then change to a hoop or huggie once the piercing has healed. 


Can I buy piercing jewellery for my existing piercings?

Our piercing jewellery styles are also available for existing piercings, as it depends on the length of the back post. For cartilage, helix, tragus and lobe piercings where you do not plan to remove the jewellery, piercing jewellery is an ideal choice, as it fits securely and snugly.

Do you only pierce ears?

No, we also pierce noses - nostril and septum piercings. For nostril piercings be aware that we do not pierce with hoops/clickers, and that you have to wait at least 8 months before changing to a hoop/clicker.

However, custom ear piercings are our speciality! Together with our passionate store staff our piercers can help guide you to achieve the best possible look for your ear – based on both your anatomy and your style. All ears are absolutely unique and we take great care to ensure the best placement and the correct angle on your ear. We also take into consideration any characteristics unique to you; a freckle or scar you want to detract from, or a feature you want to highlight.

How many piercings can I get?

One piercing session includes one to a maximum of four piercings per booking. The piercing fee remains £30, not depending on the piercing amount. The piercer will evaluate how many piercings are safe to do at once depending on the placements.

Why do you pierce with a needle and not a piercing gun?

First of all, it is less painful and what’s not to like about that? Secondly, it is safer in regards to cross-contamination and, lastly, it is less invasive to the ear tissue. Using a piercing gun can damage the tissue. Using a needle makes it possible for our highly educated piercers to achieve the best possible look for your uniquely shaped ear, also taking into consideration any characteristics unique to you.

Do you have any age restrictions for piercing?

We follow the legal age restrictions for each country. Furthermore, it is up to each individual piercer to decide if a child has reached the mental capacity to care for a new piercing. We would also require the child to be old enough to express their desire to get an ear piercing. Please not that everyone below 18 years must need to come with a legal guardian.

Do you take drop-ins / walk-ins?

We do! However, we cannot guarantee that we are able to accommodate any walk-ins. We advise you to pre-book an appointment to make sure we have time to pierce you. We get fully booked quite quickly so do not hesitate to book your appointment when you feel the urge to get blinged up.

Can I book a piercing appointment for two people?

Yes you can! The duration of an appointment for two people is 1 hour and 15 minutes. Choose the service 'The Buddy Piercing Experience' when booking.

Should I book an appointment to get my piercing checked?

It is a good idea to book a follow-up appointment a month after you have been pierced, to make sure that your piercing is healing correctly. Choose the service ‘Follow-up’ for a check or a downsize of your piercing.

Should I book an appointment for downsizing of my back post?

Yes! It is a good idea to book a follow-up appointment, if you want to get your back post downsized. By booking an appointment you will make sure our piercers have time to help and guide you.

How long does it take to heal?

Everyone heals differently and your new piercing needs to be left alone to heal. Any unnecessary pulling, turning and touching could result in opening the wound which increases the risk of infection or longer healing time. An earlobe piercing takes about 2-3 months to heal, earlobe right next to cartilage takes about 3-8 months and a cartilage piercing takes about 6-12 months. Healing is very individual, therefore, we simply recommend taking good care of your piercing for the best healing process.

How should I clean my new piercing?

We recommend that you use sterile saline solution on your new piercing. Spray on the pierced area for 10 seconds, wait for one minute, and spray again. Dry the piercing with kitchen towel paper. We recommend using Neilmed Saline solution for piercings, but if this is not available, then a sterile saline solution from the pharmacy is also suitable.

What do I do if my piercing gets infected or swells up a lot?

Should you, contrary to expectations, experience any problems, complications, excessive swelling or anything else, we are ready to help you. First, take a look through our care guide. If you are in doubt about something, feel free to contact your nearest Maria Black Piercing Studio or a local piercing professional for further inspection. It is possible to book a virtual session through FaceTime or WhatsApp with our piercer. The session can be booked here.

 Typical signs of infection include but are not limited to:

- Feeling unwell
- High temperature
- Cloudy, green or foul-smelling discharge
- Continual or increased pain
- Increased redness
- Additional swelling
- Increased heat sensation in the pierced area. 

No matter what you are experiencing please do not remove your piercing jewellery before consulting a piercer or medical professional.

When should I change my back post?

When you get a new piercing, you will always get pierced with a longer back post (around 7-8mm), as there needs to be space for swelling. This will also help the healing process. After a month, you have to book a follow-up appointment with a professional piercer, in order to see if your back post needs to be downsized. This will help the healing process of your new piercing, as well as minimize irritation.

Can I get my piercing checked even though I don’t live close to one of your studios?

Yes! It’s always possible to book a virtual aftercare session with one of our piercers. Then we will guide you in what steps to follow to ensure a proper healing process.

You’ve been to our studio before and are looking to downsize your back post, change the jewellery or simply follow up on the healing progress? Book this option and our piercers will advise and help you with these requests. Top tip: Book the piercer you’ve gone to for the piercing in the first place, as they can recognise their work and will provide and even more personal experience to you. 

The “Quick & Simple” Piercing Experience – 1 piercing, 1 person – 30 minutes

Pick this option if you feel like one or more of the below: 

1. “I’ve done this before! No need for an introduction.”

2. “I’m in a hurry – I want this to be done as quickly as possible.”

3. “I am certain of my choice and have confirmed it with my piercer ahead of this appointment.”

The “Full Package” Piercing Experience – 1-2 piercings, 1 person – 45 minutes

1. “I have never done this before. I need an introduction to Maria Black jewellery and piercing processes.”

The “Extra” Piercing Experience – 3-4 piercings, 1 person – 1 hour

The “Extra” Experience is the one for you if you relate to all these points:

1. “I am looking to design my whole ear in one go and pierce up to 4 piercings.”

2. “I have consulted with the piercer I have my appointment with. He has confirmed that my piercing wishes can be fulfilled.”

3. “I am not afraid to be a little *extra*.”

The “Revive” Piercing Experience – 1-2 piercings, 1 person – 45 minutes 

Is your Maria Black piercing jewellery just standing around in your home? Bring it in to give it a new life and get a new piercing at our studios using the Maria Black piercing jewellery (only the part of the piece with the design and NOT the back piece) from your past appointments. Please note that we do net reprocess hinge hoops and clickers.

The costs for this piercing experience are a general piercing fee of £30 plus £40 for a new back-post suited to your old jewellery. 

The “Buddy” Piercing Experience – 1 piercing per person, 2 people – 1 hour and 15 minutes

Are you looking to get pierced along with a friend, partner, family member or a random person you met yesterday? This is the experience for you. 

The ‘’Group” Piercing Experience* – Varies depending on the wishes

Are you looking to have the piercing experience as a part of your company event, bachelor party, family reunion or any other group setting? Ding-ding-ding – you have found the right option.
