STERLING SILVER
All our silver is 100% recycled 925 sterling silver, sourced from pre-owned jewellery, industrial metals, and electronic components that are refined, purified, and transformed.
14K GOLD
70% of the gold used across all of Maria Black’s fine gold collections is sourced recycled, 30% of all gold is sourced fairtrade.
18K GOLD PLATING
We apply high-quality 18K gold plating to our sterling silver collections with a layer thickness ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 microns.
WHITE RHODIUM PLATING
Rhodium is an rare, silvery-white, hard, stainless, and chemical metal. It is a precious metal and a member of the platinum group. We apply white rhodium plating to our 14K white gold jewellery.
LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS
In 2021, we transitioned to lab-grown diamonds in all our 14K fine gold collections. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, possessing the same optical, chemical, thermal, and physical characteristics as mined diamonds.
CUBIC ZIRCONIA (CZ)
Cubic Zirconia (CZ), or white zirconia, is a man-made stone that closely resembles diamonds but has a different mineral structure. CZ is used in our sterling silver collections as a diamond alternative, whereas lab-grown diamonds are genuine diamonds.
NANOGEMS
Nanogems are man-made transparent glass-ceramics that closely mimic the colours, brightness, hardness, and density of naturally mined gemstones. We use nanogems across our sterling silver and 14K fine gold collections.
PEARLS
Pearls are organic materials that grow inside mussels. We use cultured freshwater pearls, farmed and created using freshwater mussels.
CERAMICS
Ceramic is an extremely durable and lightweight material, ideal for jewellery due to its scratch-resistant properties. We delicately incorporate it into our 14K jewellery designs.
RESIN
Resin is a modern alternative to traditional enamel, offering durability without compromising the beauty of our jewellery designs.

Oxidized or discolored gold jewellery can happen in rare cases. Gold from 9K to 18K have metals like copper and silver in the alloy, which are natural oxidants.
